Initiatives

While the Walgreens/IGA battle has been on the forefront on our agenda lately, this is, by no means, the main purpose of the Stratfield Village Association.
Following are a list of initiatives that we have accomplished, are currently working on, along with a list of ideas proposed by our members of things we might want to consider. We value your opinions and your feedback on these items.

Stratfield Village Supports Operation Hope

State Rep. Kim Fawcett (D-Fairfield, Westport) and local small-business owners will celebrated the opening of a new food pantry collection site on May 28 at Jo Jo's News Stop in the Stratfield Village.
Local residents are encouraged to drop off items for donation to Operation Hope of Fairfield's food pantry.
Joe D'Costa, the owner of Jo Jo's, came up with the idea to use his centrally located store as a collection site and reached out to neighboring stores to obtain their support. The Creative Arts Studio seized the opportunity to use local talent to create signs and help spread the word. Other local stores that will be assisting in collection include Dragon 168, Salon Sazardon and the Bagel Stop.
"For those who live on the Stratfield and North Stratfield side of town we will now have a close, convenient collection site. Jo Jo's realizes that our local food pantry is stretched to the limit and I commend him for taking action to help," Fawcett said.
"The Stratfield community is very supportive of Jo Jo's," D'Costa said. "The community has made me and my store feel like an important member. I want to give back and help support a cause that is near and dear to all of FairfieldÕs residents," he said.
"The Operation Hope food pantry provides food to more than 200 local families each month. We welcome Jo Jo's as a partner in helping meet the need of our families," said Carla Miklos, Executive Director of Operation Hope.
